Piazza e mia!

18Mar09

Just when I was saying there are so many networking events to go to, turns out there’s one on the day of the next Shoreditch Twit. The LinkedInLondon meetup group has arranged the oddly named Aperitweat on 15th April… shock horror!

But…… it’s being held at Al Volo, just 100 yards from The Big Chill Bar, venue for Shoreditch Twit #7. So, after negotiations that would make Arafat and Rabin proud, the very Italian and very cool Julius has come round to the idea that people will be able to make both events, especially since you could probably play frisbee between the two venues.

The conflict resolution will see the evening beginning at Al Volo for some Italian food and drinks and then heading to The Big Chill for the true Shoreditch irregulars. Turns out this thing is going to be yet-another-monthly-social-media-event, so you’ll be glad to know it won’t be long before the Twit is retired and the idea of London tweetups becomes gradually redundant.

RSVP for Aperitweat here and Shoreditch Twit here.

Why would Twit retire? Isn’t there interest enough for both?

  2. Shark, jumped.

  3. We are very felici to have come to an agreement otherwise in perfect mafia style, we were thinking of piercing your car’s tires (we were also thinking about a horse head, but since a few of us are vegetarians, we dismissed the idea).

We are actually now working on collecting frisbees so that we can actually make that happen.

If you don’t know what the heck aperitivo is check it out http://bit.ly/fONr

Talking about weird names, what does “Piazza e mia” mean? ๐Ÿ˜›

  4. It’s a Cinema Paradiso reference… especially since there’s a piazza (car park) between venues!

  5. Ok you meant La piazza รฉ mia , la piazza รฉ mia! ๐Ÿ™‚

Looking forward to see you guys at both and share some good times

and kudos to the whole team working on Aperitweat, Linked in London just participates.

By the way there is always need for more tweetups, redundancy (although we are very different) is cool if what we share is good vibes.

  6. Yes, that’s what I meant!

  7. Too many social media parties going on! I miss the days where it was only 6 of us at ShoreditchTwit ๐Ÿ˜‰ Anyhow, see you at AperiTweat and at ShoreditchTwit, I’ve registered to both now…

What I really really love of London is that it is so special because has so many different events to offer every day and night of the year…whatever the nationality, or interest… I think in this case it’s a good mix of events and twitter is just stimulating new things to happen… I don’t see any redundancy…or death of events…
I just see a great potential to meet great interesting people…whatever it’s in Shoreditch, South London, US…
Hope you share the same ideas I have…looking forward to meet you all soon, and enjoy my evening!

  9. Oh, I don’t think events will be redundant, I just think that there is already a sense of tweet-up fatigue. People feel pressured into not missing a single one, and having felt like that myself, I don’t want to make other people feel the same way.

At present, The Shoreditch Twit, much like one of it’s inspirations, TV Show Nathan Barley, will be short lived but (hopeflly) fondly remembered.

  10. Cheer up Lewis, this ‘yet-another-monthly-social-media-event’ as you call it (isn’t Aperitweat such a cool name indeed?!) surely made you sad. I’ll speak to Don Julius and the rest of my gang to make sure the future of Twit events will never look that gloomy to you anymore ๐Ÿ˜‰

Really enjoyed Shoreditch Twit last time, was impressed by the quality of people there! Think there will never be enough good events out there, and I have yet to see the day great people become redundant.

Am sure you’ll fall in love with AperiTweat, and if not…watch out the horse head! ๐Ÿ˜€

  11. I wish I was there. I’m dying to visit London. Very jealous. Lol. Have oodles of fun! ๐Ÿ™‚
